Polyether

Flexible and resilient foam rubber

Polyether is a flexible and resilient type of foam rubber. When compressed, the material naturally returns to its original shape. Depending on its composition, polyether can feel soft or firm. It is one of the most well-known foam types and is widely used in various applications such as cushions and mattresses.

Density rating (SG-value) and lifespan per variant

The quality of polyether foam is determined by its SG-value (density). Polyether is available in three main variants:

  • The most affordable option. Firm, with a lifespan of 1–3 years. Less suitable for intensive use.
  • Softer than SG25, with a longer lifespan of 5–8 years.
  • Ideal for cushions and applications with heavy or daily use. Lifespan: 8–12 years.

All types of polyether offer good insulation and are suitable for people with dust mite allergies.
